What an incredible day at Boggs yesterday! Great conditions and some really epic racing. Nice job everyone! We will be riding Monday (3:15) and Wednesday (3:30) this week. This is our last full week of training before we start to taper for states. For next Sunday’s ride, I’ve been thinking that RR to Coastal View to Diaz would be perfect pre Laguna Seca prep! I’m going to be whupped from riding Boggs 8 hr the day before so hopefully we’ll have lots of coaches to help push you…! Remember, come out for the rides even if you aren’t racing states.
The weather forecast is for sunny with some clouds tomorrow! No rain expected. It will still be cool for the earlier racers though. I suggest bringing a base layer and arm warmers in addition to a warmup vest or wind breaker. You don’t have to use them if you don’t need them. It may be a bit sloppy too. I will bring some materials to make some splash fenders. They are nice for keeping mud from flying off your front tire and into your eyes. Ask me if you want to make one.
If anyone is camping at Boggs, NorCal just sent out an email noting that there will be assigned team campsites. We will be camping and setting up our Pitzone in the same place. There is a “suggested” $10 per car donation for campers. Also, Chisty will be leading a pre ride on Friday afternoon and I will be leading one Saturday morning at 8:30.
Just landed! Looking forward to the team ride tomorrow. Regular time and place. 3:30 from school.
Hey team, I’m writing this from 37,000 ft above the Pacific Ocean, heading towards Tokyo. I hope you all have a great spring break. Please get out and ride on your own if you can. Boggs is in two weeks and what you do this coming week will be critical to your performance there. In addition to “just riding” you really want to work some intensity into your rides. A good goal is about 20 minutes a week of high intensity work. You can mix this up anywhere in your ride. You can do it all on one ride or a little on each. Remember that shorter intervals should be done at a much higher effort than longer ones. Ideally, at least one or two of these should be longer – 4 to 5 minutes.
We are riding Monday and Wednesday this week due to the original Saturday race schedule. Meet at 3:15 Monday and 3:30 Wednesday, both at Tam.
My fault for posting today’s ride so late, but we didn’t get any riders. We can’t afford to lose an entire weekend of training so late in the season. Please ride on your own. Use the unexpected free day today to do something long. Crank up the intensity late in the ride, perhaps by hitting the last climb of the day hard. The other teams are out riding this weekend and we don’t want to lose any ground! Please let me know if you would like to ride Sunday. If we get enough takers, I will try to clear my schedule.
