Fun at the Fort Report
Tam High riders pulled off the first race of the 2015 season flying our distinctive blue jerseys with confidence!
The girls began the race day with outstanding results. Maggie jumped up to the JV field after her success in the Frosh field last season. Adding in the extra lap did not seem to rattle this rider as she earned a 2nd place finish. Megan transitioned from basketball to bicycling in fine fashion to finish 7thin the Soph field. Massive praise and respect goes to Katie for finishing her first mountain bike race EVER with three complete laps of the course in the JV field!
Tam brought a small contingent of Soph boys to the Fort, but Nate and Felix rode through the crowd and mechanical problems to finish 6th & 7th. Do we see a podium spot in their future?
So how about those Tam Frosh boys, huh? This group made a loud announcement to all that they are a force to reckon with this season! Great job staging on the front line boys. Two blue Tam jerseys on the podium, Julian 2nd & Liam 5ththis round. Eddie in 8th, Pearson in 9th, Nate, Nick, Calvin, Taiki, Ian, Ian, Everett, Ronan, Taylor, Colin and Fabian sprinkled the whole field with Tam colors. Congratulations on a fine first race of your NorCal career!
Now let’s take a look at our veteran riders – the JV and Varsity boys. Many boys of our JV team form a group of talented riders that have been with the team since their freshman year. It takes a lot of mettle to get in the training required for a 20 mile race while keeping up with school work, jobs, cars and family commitments. These guys are doing it! What a treat to see John back on the podium in 2nd place. Stuart and Ethan right on his heels in 6th& 8th. Travis, Garrett, Sam and Brandon rounded out the JV field. Clayton earned admiration from the team (and me!) when he started and finished the Varsity race at the end of a week full of fever, headaches and not much riding. I’m excited to see what he can do when he is healthy.
Congratulations team! Great start to the season – let’s keep the wheels spinning. J
