The Tamalpais High School Mountain Bike Team (Tam MTB) is a co-ed school club that is open to all students of Tam High.

norcal-logoOur club is part of the NorCal High School Cycling League, which is a state-wide organization offering competition between schools in cross-country mountain biking, with hundreds of riders registered from about 20 different schools.  The NorCal League organizes regional races around the northern half of the state, which the Tam MTB team competes in (see list of league members). At the end of the season in Spring, our league compete against the South Conference in the state championships.

Tam MTB is focused on giving students a fun, competitive experience regardless of ability level. We want to create strong body, mind and character through the sport of cycling. And there’s no better place to ride than on Mount Tam, which gave birth to the sport of mountain biking!

Competitive mountain biking is a Spring sport at the school. Our competitive season is January through May.  But we begin meeting and training in the Fall, once the school year begins.  Riders train and race with their own equipment.

history-4We invite all students who are interested in riding with us to visit us at Tam High’s “Club Day”, traditionally held towards the end of September.  We have some fun rides in the Fall where new members can join us on rides and see if they want to compete in the Spring.  We also have members who only ride with us recreationally – you don’t have to race if you don’t want to!

Bring your mountain bike to our Fall check-up clinic at Tam and we’ll help you get your bike ready for riding and racing!

Check out this video from a 2013 race in Sacramento, to get an idea what competitive mountain biking is like! It’s a blast for athletes, and a great spectator sport for friends and family.
