State Champioship Results!

By | May 24th, 2016|

Hello to all the athletes!

Congratulations on a job well done at the State Championships! What a great finish to this amazing season.

Overall, the team came in 8th place out of nearly 30 teams! This is an excellent result and something everyone of you should be proud of. The team was only 4 points out of 7th. Congratulations to the girl’s team, who all scored for the team where last year we had no girls competing!

State Championships here we come!

By | May 20th, 2016|

Hello Athletes:

All those months of training come down to this  race. You all will do extremely well! Marin athletes have done very well on this course. You have trained hard on steep terrain and you can feel very confident that you are extremely well prepared!

Look for the Blue tents when you get to the Pit zone. That’s how you’ll find everyone. The tents will be up first thing Sunday.

Good luck to everyone!
Have fun, ride strong and be safe!

Los Olivos- State Championship course video and map

By | May 11th, 2016|

Here is a video from the rider’s perspective of the course, which appears to be the same as last year’s. You will be pre-riding this Saturday the 21st but this will assist in visualizing the course beforehand, along with the map.

There is a long flat straight-a-way start then a steep switchback climb, then rolling terrain with ups and downs, then a fast single track descent to the finish line. A high percentage of this course is single track, so it’s a fun course. Passing is a little more challenging due to the amount of single track, but there are small fire roads sections interspersed.

The riding surface is more similar to Laguna Seca than other courses. It is dustier and of course the temperatures will be warmer, probably hot. Proper pre-race hydration and staying in the shade will be a key component of your preparation.

(Note Pearson and Hobey on the right at the start and Zach at mile 1 in the switchbacks.)

Course Map- Laguna Seca

By | May 3rd, 2016|

I have confirmed with Vanessa that the course will be the same as last year. Check the race flyer on the Norcal site as she indicated that it would be updated with the map sometime today (Tuesday).

Pre-riding this course will be important so make sure you take a lap and pay special attention to Hurl Hill and choosing a good line up the steepest part of this double and triple wide trail, which has been rutted and compromised by winter rains.

Pre-riding times are from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
