Coming Soon: Teamsnap for Tam MTB
The Tam High MTB team is launching a new communication tool for riders, team leaders, and parents: TeamSnap.
TeamSnap is a website and mobile app for managing sports teams. TeamSnap’s easy-to-use service helps coaches, athletes and parent do the following:
- manage practice and race schedules
- RSVP to team events (rides, races, meetings, etc.)
- show who is attending which events
- track athlete stats
- broadcast email messages and text messages to the entire team
- coordinate event refreshments
TeamSnap is web-based and also offers iPhone and Android apps. It is free for everyone to use (the club is underwriting the cost). It will bring our team together like never before. You’ll receive an email in the coming weeks with your account invitation.
Team hats and t-shirts available
Team Hats are now available! These are great for team spirit to wear around campus on Fridays before a race, or to advertise the team leading up to Club Day on the 28th of September.
Contact Zach on campus or contact him at: [email protected]

Team Fundraiser was a huge success!
Thank you to everyone who got involved with our first fundraiser! Thank to your participation and enthusiasm, to Proof Lab, Marble Party and all the great volunteers!
Special thanks to Suzanne for all of her amazing work and the team captains for their raffle ticket sales!
MCBC Dirt Fondo
More than 20 athletes, parents and coaches participated in the annual MCBC dirt Fondo. It was a great ride and a fabulous event, benefitting the great work that MCBC does to promote cycling, create safe routes in our county as well as promote the maintenance and addition of mountain biking trails in our open spaces. Everyone had an awesome time, riding up to 45 miles starting near Rodeo Beach, going all the way up to the summit of Tam, around the mountain and doubling back.
Thanks to Mike Van Allen for inviting and mobilizing so many to sign up and ride.
Check out this link for photos taken by Laura Stone at Cardiac! Thank you Laura for volunteering.

National Championships at Mammoth, CA.
Graduating Tam racer Clayton Pucket has won a USA Cycling National Title!
One of Tam’s own has been crowned a National Champion! Racing for Bear Development Clayton won the Enduro event on the 5th and final day of competition at the annual USA Cycling Mountain Bike Championships held for the second year at Mammoth Mountain, CA. in mid July.
After competing in the Cross Country event the day before, Clayton was able to put together an outstanding series of downhill timed sections (combined all together) with linked circuits that required cross mountain or uphill sections. But make no bones about it. This was a technical course that required intense downhill skills on Mammoth Mountain proper, which includes some expert descents and requires fearless down hilling chops. Clayton killed it, despite a wrist injury which compromised his training three weeks before! Congratulations! Also making the podium from Tam was Johnny Waldron who came in 5th place! Amazing! Well done graduates. All of Tam high is proud of your accomplishments! What a way to end your high school careers.
Joining Clayton and Johnny were Julian and Liam. Julian and Liam both competed in the same Cross Country race, going up against the best endurance racers in the nation. The starting elevation […]
Boggs 8 hour Endurance Event
Tam fielded 4 teams of three at the annual Boggs 8 hour held at Wente Scout property outside Willits. Thanks to the very generous sponsorship of Greg Allen Tam had 4 strong teams.
Julian and Liam defended their 3rd place result from last year, teaming up with Kaveh (who replaced Den as the third rider). These “boys” raced in the mens division “putting it down”, each posting incredibly fast lap times (4 laps each of 9 miles). Kaveh showed great poise and stamina, helping the team get on the podium. Julian posted the fastest lap time of 41:02.
Here is Liam leading off for the Tam High 2 team with eventual winner Levi Liepheimer (#483), former Tour De France racer, on the right. Great lead-out and first lap Liam!
Here is a podium shot of Liam, Julian and Kaveh and well deserved applause from the crowd.
Other Teams did well, although were on track for better results.
ZiggyStardust (Hobey, Sean and Sal a friend of Sean’s) were on track for 10th place until Hobey suffered a flat and they could not recover on the last lap. They came in 16th place. Another team with Zach, Nate and […]

Boggs Tips
First off, I want to wish everyone going up to Boggs a great race! I’m really bummed to not be making the trip with you this year.
For those of you who haven’t done this event before, or even if you have, I want to give you all a few words of advice from someone who has done this a few times.
– First off, pacing yourself is super important. Do NOT pace yourself for a single 6 mile lap and count on recovering for the next one. I highly suggest you back off somewhat on your first lap. If you find that you haven’t pushed hard enough, you will have lots of time to push later on. If you go too hard early, you will not be enjoying the rest of the day. Guaranteed. Once you get into your second lap, you are going to have a much better sense of whether or not you can go a little harder, or maybe you’ve hit it about right. It is hard to let a faster rider pull away from you when you are holding back and know you “could” keep up with them. But either that rider is […]
Thank you Roy Rivers
Thank you again to Dipsea champions Roy and Jamie Rivers for joining us at the end-of season party. Here is the priceless photo of the first ever Mt Tam mountain bike race in the late seventies of Roy in jeans following two other mountain men up a brutally steep hill.
Final team ride of the Year!
We had a great turn out for the joint Mill Valley Middle School/ Tam High team ride! We had over 35 coaches, ride leaders, Tam high racers and Middle school riders.
Thank you Middle school parents and Emile for arranging to have your club meet us today! And congratulations to the middle school athletes who contributed to your teams first place in the middle school racing series! Well done!
We’ll look forward to seeing you next year or in a few years. Keep up the great work!
Final Team ride
Hello athletes:
Next Wednesday at 3:30 at the school.
Sadly, its the last official ride of the season. But let’s make it a memorable one! We will be riding with the middle school club. They are potential future team members so we want a good turnout from our team with your team kits.
Be accommodating and personable and chat it up with them. They will be looking up to you as role models and mentors, so let’s ride and integrate with their group. BE SOCIAL. Ask questions (some of them have been participating in the Summit Shorty race series for example, ask them how long they’ve been riding, how they got started, how many rides they do a week, etc.), ask them if they have any questions for you!!
This is a fun ride but also a recruiting effort for our team for next year and beyond.
